Teavent 2018: TeaRevv Day 13 Ruby Chai

“RUBY CHAI: Get some spice in your life. There’s nothing scary about this blend of caffeine-free Rooibos, sporty cinnamon, Ginger, Cardamom, Clove & Nutmeg. Amazing hot, iced or as a spicy tea lattea.” [source]

In my teacup today is my thirteenth day of Christmas teas from TeaRevv. Today’s selection is Ruby Chai. I find that ginger can often make or break a tea… in this case it was break. The ginger was very overpowering, and it meant the subtler flavours indicative of a chai were lost out, and I was basically drinking a slightly peppery ginger tea. It was not unpleasant, but the normally strong Rooibos tea (which did create a stunning colourful liquor), and fragrant cardamon and cinnamon was overwhelmed by the strong ginger. Not bad, but not great.

p.s. the beautiful glass I was drinking my tea out of is an Amanda Palmer shot glass, with the stunning marionette illustration by Vladimir Zimakov.

Ruby Chai from TeaRevv is essentially a ginger tea, with a slight hint of pepper. The chai flavours are completely overwhelmed by ginger. Not unpleasant, but not quite there on the chai scale. Get your ginger tea here.
